It doesn’t feel like home,
Although it feels safe.
I cannot make it my own,
Not in this place.
I’m not sure what that is anymore,
Or how to organize these feelings.
I sit here writing this on a floor,
Searching for true healing.

It’s warm in this cold town,
With memories happy and sad.
Thoughts I’m wishing to drown,
Of things that make me mad.
My toes are tingling for more to do.
My mind needs an escape.
My heart racing only for you,
In this empty space.

With time they say you heal whole,
Or maybe “absence makes the heart grow founder?”
How do we heal our souls?,
When all we have are falsities not facts, of wonder.
I can fake my home,
But not what is true.
My mind will always roam,
but my heart stays with you.
